Rock ’n’ Roll Craft Show Unites Bands, Crafts

As the name indicates, the Rock ’n’ Roll Craft Show is not a typical craft fair.

For starters, there’s music — hence the rock ’n’ roll part.

“We have DJs and music all three days, and Saturday night we have our additional musical showcase at 2720,” organizer Jessi Cerrutti told “Cityscape” host Steve Potter. “We try to curate the music very specifically for our event.”

Next, the setup for this craft show. Forget vendor booths and think department store.

“We didn’t have enough space when we started it. It really makes it easy to shop,” Cerrutti said. “We were sort of doing this pop-up shop model before it was really a term.”

That means shoppers looking for jewelry can head to the jewelry section. The same with clothing, bath products, furniture and posters. There’s even a staff to help shoppers find what they’re looking for and create what Cerrutti called a “unique retail experience.”

And then there’s a giant sock monkey.

“Our sock monkey mascot is usually there to encourage dancing,” Cerrutti said. “He’s just there to sort of keep the energy up at the show and just have a lot of fun and make it fun for everybody.”

Overall, though, the show is about local artists and unique items.

“This is the place where many, many people over the last 10 years have done most of their holiday shopping,” organizer Meghan McGlynn said. “We offer such a wide variety of things: housewares, musical instruments, clothing, jewelry — all in a variety of shapes and prices. And it’s all handmade.”
